Last October, Jérôme Mouscadet, producer at Dada! Animation, showcased the film Vaulted Harmonies during the Rencontres d’Archéologie de la Narbonnaise (RAN). Joined by Brian FG Katz, acoustician, researcher at CNRS, and coordinator of the ANR PHEND project, he revealed the ambitious scope of this project, which blends history, technology, and art.

Addressing a professional and student audience, the two speakers shared an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at this groundbreaking initiative, which bridges science and creativity to captivate and inspire. The presentation was praised for its depth and innovative approach.

About PHEND

PHEND, grounded in research into the audible history of Notre-Dame through the ages, brings together eight private and public partners under the leadership of CNRS/Sorbonne University, including the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. The research project enabled the development of a real-time acoustic simulation system, allowing musicians to perform within a virtual recreation of Notre-Dame’s historical acoustics, which was instrumental in producing this virtual concert.
